Murrarrie Cycling Criterium Race

Over the past few weeks several members of our training squad have been taking part in some criterium races for a bit of fun and to test our legs against the pure cyclists. Its been a great experience trying to match it against the cyclists and break up the monotony of training.

2 weeks ago training partner Dan Wilson and I managed to get away together in a breakaway for the last 25 minutes of the race. It seems like the only way us triathletes can secure a win in these races is to breakaway from the pack as we just don't have the outright speed of the cyclists in the sprint finish.

A drag race down the main straight man vs man determined who would have bragging rights and I managed to pull away from Dan and secure a nice little win.

RIDE cycling review magazine was out there taking photos and doing a story on cycling in Brisbane so hopefully there will be a little article and bike feature with yours truly in the next issue.

(Thanks to Karen who snapped this photo of Dan and I battling it out for line honours)
