Back into it again

Today was my first training session back after a 5 week 'forced break' (for lack of a better word) as a result of my troublesome stress fracture.

I skipped the usual morning rush at the local pool and headed down just after lunch time for a couple of km's in the water. It was a weird feeling to finally get back into the pool after having so long off but was very satisfying nonetheless. Swimming feels quite foreign to me (as to be expected after having so long off) but I'm sure after another few sessions I'll be feeling a lot more comfortable in the water.

Post graduation dinner at Granada

Following graduation my parents, brother and I headed to Granada Spanish Tapas Bar. We were all in the mood to celebrate so alot of good food, wine and margaritas were enjoyed. I've never had spanish food before but I'll now be on the hunt for it next time I head out after last nights experience. The staff were so friendly and the food was unbelievably good. They also make one mean margarita!

Pollo a la Yucatan (brother and my choice of food)
 Fideos con Marisco (Dad's)

 Digging into the food.
Calamares Fritos, Patates Bravas, Judias Verdes (Mum's)
 Churros (spanish donuts) for dessert

University Graduation

I have been working towards my University Bachelor of Business Degree (Sports Management Major & Marketing Minor) for right on four and a half years and yesterday afternoon was my final step for me in becoming a University graduate.

The graduation ceremony was held at South Bank and it was great to have my parents and brother there to watch me graduate.

Dad also found his new car....

Cast is off!

In case you don't already know I've been dealing with a stubborn stress fracture in my foot over the last few months.

My doctor called for the cast to be put on just under 4 weeks ago after he saw the MRI scan I had done which showed that the injury wasn't healing like it should be.

This was a result of moving to fast while building back into training after the injury was first diagnosed 3 months ago. To be honest I really pushed the recovery phase more than I should have in a last ditch effort to be selected to race at the ITU U23 World Championships later this year.

Today the cast came off! Such a good feeling and should be able to swim soon according to the doctor. Can't wait
